The Garden House is on the outskirts of St Albans on the Redbourn Road. They have a carvery throughout the week and weekend also a further menu selection.

Please leave a review for the Garden House Carvery

I have often been to the Pre for their cheap carvery. This is very popular destination as sometimes you have to queue for over 30 minutes. I’m not sure if you can book, but if so that would certainly be a good idea to. The food is ok, the gravy can be a tad on the thick side, but for the price of £3.95  it’s brilliant value.

We had heard great things from friends about the Pre carvery. The food was excellent,
the service exceptional and the staff could not have been more helpful. And a new price for the New Year being £3.59 is an absolute bargain.

You certainly get what you pay for!..cheap and cheerful. The staff need to be more professional. The building is wonderful but the decor internally is dreadful, especially the carpets around table 2...it does let it down...shame.... still what do you expect for £3.59!

Excellent value for good food, lovely building a bit on the tatty side but with the prices they charge you really can't complain, and car parking. Staff very friendly too, well worth a visit.

Food is nice and cheap enough but the staff are rude and need to learn some people skills. Excluding the young man at the carvery counter he is friendly and pleasant the two waitress manners need a lot of work

We have eaten here several times, including celebrating my mums 95th birthday with 11 of us & the service has always been excellent, food really good value and very attentive friendly courteous waitress! Looking forward to our next excuse to celebrate there!

We have used the Pre since it started its Carvery and have always sung it's praises.

Recently since the name change to The Garden House it has gone to pot. Staff are inattentive, untrained. The senior manager is in the wrong job ( not the original longstanding Bar manager who is good). In recent times the half-hour queue is non existent because the food/service has noticeably decreased.

Last week I went their twice, Table Service was,on both occasions, non existent. Bar service (Not the regular Manager) was really rubbish.

On both occasions the Menu pictured starter was not available (without explanation) after all Brake Brothers do not generally run out of food do they?

I suggest it is time to take stock return to the Pre's original format for Good food at an unbeatable price with friendly professional staff.

We have enjoyed 3 meals here on seperate dates and have been more than satisfied with the meal itself and the service. My friends from canbridge are looking forward to their next visit.

I usualy eat Sunday lunch there with a friend. It is very popular and the staff sometimes struggle to keep up. But where else can you have a roast lunch with a choice of 4 joints and steak pie with half of a shared bottle of wine for only £10

This is usually a 4 star food with amazing value. Today 11th January Roast Beef was inedible tasteless lump of gristle. Vegetables did not taste fresh. Suggest they put
50 pence on price and serve something worth eating. Very disappointed.

If you are under 10 or over 65 and aren't fussy about processed meat, Paxo, Aunt Bessie's yorkshires and colourless veg, then this is the restaurant for you. The proprietors are sticking to a carvery version of Toys r us.
