Excellent choice for dinner with friends, I’ve been there a number of times and always enjoyed the food, the fish cakes are my personal favourite. I like the fact they are happy to serve tap water although some of the food I think is a bit overpriced. Can be tricky to get a table on weekends at a popular time.

Lussmans is not as pretentious as some of the top end restaurants in St Albans. The menu is varied enough but not overwhelming. The chicken I had was succulent and cooked to perfection and I had just enough room left for dessert which was out of this world.

Lussmanns is a very good modern brasserie type restaurant. Food and drinks of a high quality and very good value for money. Service attentive and friendly - sometimes can be a bit snotty in these sort of establishments but not here. Burgers are lovely by the way.

I’ve just had my xmas party at Lussmanns and have to say it was the best food i’ve ever had for a works xmas do. Every single course was mouth watering. I will certainly be going back to Lussmanns in the New Year if their food is always this good.

Lussmanns serves up some mighty fine food. Due to not having a lot of time sadly I had to miss out on the starter, but from the choice in the menu I wish i’d left home earlier. I can only report on the main which was very nice indeed. I had the pollock with creamed leak and shrimp and tomato butter which couldn’t have possibly been cooked any better. I had a side of french fries. My partner had the sirloin steak which also melted in the mouth. I am salivating whilst writing this review and will most certainly be going back.

Not massively impressed with Lussmanns. Very overpriced for what you get as portion sizes on the small size. The fish was dry as was my friends meat. We did raise this with  staff member but got shrugged off. Not great customer service.

I went for  a quick lunch at Lussmanns with my husband and kids and I have to say the food was really bad. I wish I had said something but i’m not the sort of person to have a go there and then. I had a burger and I asked for it medium rare and i was told by the waiter that it only comes well done. Okaaayyyy!!! What’s all that about. Surely I should have it how i want it. When I was eating the burger I got half way through it to find it was like charcoal, it was so overdone it tasted burnt! Needless to say I didn’t finish it. The kids menu is also appalling.

I realise it’s hard to please everyone, but my children eat very well and the menu choice is incredibly limited so I had to opt for the chicken schnitzel, overdone chicken coated in breadcrumbs. Similar to what one would get in Iceland.

That’s the second bad experience I’ve had at Lussmanns, a few of my friends and colleagues have also mentioned it going down hill of late. I may be being a tad mean only giving them 1 star, but the food was rubbish. Restaurant as a whole is nice. But I am reviewing the food. June 2011

I have recently moved to St Albans and have heard a lot about Lussmanns, most of it good. I have to say the food was tasty and the setting quite nice. I will probably return to sample a few more items off the menu. What is good is that they seem to care a lot about the environment so that certainly gets a thumbs up from me.
