Belly dancing is a fun feminine way to keep fit and excellent way of toning the waist, hips and abdominal area.

It is suitable for all ages, shapes and sizes whatever your level of fitness.

Debbie Phillips (Nyla) has been belly dancing for 14 years, was a primary school teacher for 12 years and teaching belly dancing for 5 years.

She has learned from many great teachers including Hossam and Serena Ramzy, Jacqueline Chapman, Raqia Hassan, Jo Wise and Dawn Harvey. Debbie has done a variety of performances both within a group and solo, these include performing onstage with the Daughters of Hathor, her own troupe Nefertari and tribal group Khamsin as well as numerous solo performances in  London, Watford, St Albans, Nottingham and Newcastle. Debbie’s passion for belly dancing has taken her to Egypt and inspired her to make her own costumes as well offering her costume making skills to her students and fellow dancers.

Nyla currently runs classes in St Albans during the day and evenings as well as workshops throughout the year. Classes include Beginners, Intermediate and American Tribal style.
