Hotel
Close to the centre of the ancient Roman city of St Albans, and near the famous cathedral, this magnificent town-house hotel is set in five acres of beautiful English country gardens, with its own one acre lake.
The original house dates back over 500 years and was converted into a hotel in the early 1960’s by the Newling Ward family, who still remain as private owners and managers.
The 30 rooms are individually styled, many of which overlook the lake and gardens. The room designs are a blend of classical and elegant décor creating a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
The award winning restaurant gives excellent views across the garden and lake and is a much loved regular dining venue drawing food lovers from far and wide.
Restaurant
The Lake Restaurant at St Michael's Manor offers the most scenic dining experience in Hertfordshire. The beautifully decorated conservatory-style restaurant and dining room overlook our own fabulous private garden and lake.
To compliment the view the Lake Restaurant provides a range of menus and award winning Modern British cuisine to suit all tastes. As well as traditional A La Carte, the Lake Menu provides a brasserie-style food experience, changed weekly, with a choice of two or three courses (including coffee) and gives excellent value seasonal dining.
More than just a special place to celebrate, and very popular for Sunday lunch, the Lake Restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a great place to relax and enjoy a light meal or one of our famous Afternoon Teas.
